About Shawn, Chantal, and Jabez House
Jabez House is a multi-racial children’s home in Rayton, Gauteng, led by house parents Shawn (Marc’s brother) and his wife Chantal, who have four biological children and have fostered many other children. They opened their home in 2011 with the arrival of an abandoned baby they later adopted. Since then, they have adopted two more children and currently foster three others, caring for ten children aged between 5 and 20 years.
Their home reflects a commitment to creating a permanent, loving, forever-family where every child feels they belong. Whenever possible, they choose adoption over foster care, foregoing SASSA financial support so that the children can share their surname and experience the security of lifelong family, even though they rely heavily on donations to continue this work.
Shawn and Chantal’s ministry provides safety, healing, and hope to children who have endured trauma and instability. Through consistent love and structure, they restore dignity and identity to some of the most vulnerable young people in their community. Their work is emotionally and physically demanding, and opportunities for rest are rare. A holiday in Cape Town from 26 December to 12 January will give them much-needed time to recharge, strengthen family bonds, and return to their ministry renewed.

Budget Breakdown
The R25 000 target will cover the family’s transport costs—fuel and toll fees—for their return trip, as well as one night’s stop-over accommodation to break the long journey for the younger children. It will also provide for food and general daily expenses during their stay, along with a small contingency amount for unforeseen expenses. Accommodation in Cape Town will be provided at Marc and Lindy’s home, which keeps overall costs manageable.
