As an artist and photographer, I often paint from my own photographs, like this one of fishing vessels in Hout Bay harbour. Hout Bay is a fishing village on Cape Town's Atlantic seaboard, was named by Dutch settlers after the Yellowwood trees used for furniture at the Cape of Good Hope.

As an artist and photographer, I often paint from my own photographs, like this one of the 19th-century Victorian bathing huts at St. James Beach on Cape Town's False Bay coast. Locals visit to swim in the tidal pool or surf, enjoying a "kuier," an Afrikaans word meaning to 'hang out'.
